Description
John Steinbeck Special Issue
John Steinbeck was highly honored in his time, including being awarded the 1940 Pulitzer Prize for literature with his seminal novel The Grapes of Wrath. He is one of the few American writers to have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, which he won in 1962. Yet controversy and criticism hounded and savaged Steinbeck, causing him personal pain and creating misleading assessments of his literary achievements. The reading public, however, didn’t listen to the carping critics. Today, Steinbeck is read and admired as one of the greatest masters of Twentieth-century American literature.
