Description

Collecting Colson Whitehead

Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning novel The Underground Railroad was still just an idea filed away in his fertile imagination when he was awarded a Macarthur “Genius” Fellowship in 2012.

Colson Whitehead: An Annotated Checklist of First Editions

Whitehead had seven books published before The Underground Railroad. Each is unique, ranging from his first novel, The Intuitionist, about elevator inspectors, to Zone One, a post-apocalyptic book about zombies, to The Noble Hustle, a nonfiction book about his experiences at the World Series of Poker.

Classic Comic Strips as Collectable Books #12 – Walt Kelly’s POGO

Although Walt Kelly was never given a “genius award,” many of his colleagues used the word “genius” about his seminal comic strip Pogo.

The Fantagraphics POGO Collection

The excellent graphic arts publisher Fantagraphics has launched a series collecting all of the Pogo newspaper comic strips, from those that appeared in The New York Star in 1948, through syndication, and ending with Kelly’s death in 1973. They have published five volumes, with seven more to come. So far, they are superb.
