Over 20 years ago we published an article entitled “Trash Collecting.” Along with such certifiable trash as Forever Amber and The Carpetbaggers, it included Mario Puzo’s The Godfather. That novel hasn’t changed since the earlier article, but perhaps we did not fully appreciate it as classic literature.
