Collecting Stephen Leacock
Leacock’s legend in Canada seems to grow a little more with the passing of each slumbering winter. He has been gone for nearly 70 years now, but he has, in a very real sense, become a large part of the Canadian social fabric. He left more than his share of literary gems, more than his share of cultural echoes.

Signed vs. Inscribed
Which is better—a copy that is simply signed by the author, or one that carries an inscription as well? In general, the answer is, the more writing by the author in a book, the better.

Among Kindred Spirits:
Lucy Maud Montgomery
Montgomery’s most famous and revered work, Anne of Green Gables, began as a series of entries in a notebook filled with plot ideas. They grew into a beloved novel. Mark Twain called Anne “the dearest and most lovable child since Alice.”

Ten Years Ago
Langston Hughes
