Description

Keeping Up With Michael Dirda: An Appreciation

It can be a little hard to keep up with the prodigious Dirda, but it amply repays the effort. In addition to book reviews, Dirda writes essays on book collecting, travel pieces, childhood recollections, and appreciations of a wide variety of books and genres including mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, ghost stories, children’s books biographies, horror, history, and even reference books. His aim is to entertain, inform, enlighten and share his enthusiasms. His choice of topics ranges widely, but you can always count on insightful, well-furnished prose and a distinctive narrative tone, all deployed in a witty, deceptively casual voice.

Michael Dirda. A Lightly Annotated Checklist

Because he has been writing continuously since about 1977, Dirda’s bibliography is gigantic and impossible to summarize in a checklist. The 300 pieces collected in the books in this checklist represent about 20 percent of his total output.
